About the Metroplex Opera
Company, Inc.
The Metroplex Opera Company,
Inc. was founded in 2002 to enlighten and entertain the general
public and to afford trained opera singers, actors and
instrumentalists with the experience and exposure necessary for a
musical career.
Members of the company have
given numerous concerts in the Dallas-Ft. Worth-Denton area,
including two here at the Treemont: the Second Act of The Marriage
of Figaro, which was staged around this room in costume with piano
accompaniment, and a Valentine’s Day Concert in 2010.
The opera company has also
presented three major works, staged, in costume, and accompanied
by a live orchestra: Puccini's Suor Angelica (2006), Romberg's
The
Student Prince (2008), and in 2010 a double bill of Pergolesi's
La Serva Padrona and Mozart's L'Impresario.
Its next production will be
Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro in its entirety at the Charles W. Eisemann Center in Richardson. The performances will be on Friday,
July 15 at 7:30, with a Sunday matinee, at 2:30 on July 17, 2011.
All the singers you are hearing today are involved in the
production.
Although there is no charge
for today's concert,
contributions to this summer's opera will be deeply appreciated.
We also wish to thank Dani
Jones and Nickie Thomas for allowing us to use these lovely
facilities for rehearsal.
