Alvin Lawler is a native of Dallas. He attended Ranger Junior College and afterwards at West Texas State University where he studied in business management. Furthermore, he has been a student of music studies in voice, poetry writing and guitar at Richland College. And he has studied voice privately with Ann Petty.

He has performed locally at numerous venues through out the DFW area. He was a cast member in the local opera production of Amahal and the Night Visitors. He is an active member in music ministry at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church where he is a member of the Sanctuary Choir and the I.B. Foote Crusaders Male Chorus. He has been a participant of a number of Songwriting workshops and competitions and received an Honorable Mention Recognition at the 2001 John Lennon Songwriting Competition.

Alvin is excited about being a part of the Metroplex Opera Company and its future plans.
